Tip 1 : Book the Venue
Start by visiting inspirational websites for ideas and make a list of venues you would like to see.
Be realistic about the date you select in terms of weather. Especially if you’re planning a garden ceremony.
Once you have booked your venue, it’s time to book your suppliers.
The Pretty Blog and The Little Pink Book are great places to start.
Tip 2 : Wedding photographer
Book in advance.
It’s ideal to book 3-12 months ahead.
Investment as opposed to an expense.
Like all top quality things in life, good photography does not come cheap.
Most top photographers see themselves as artists. It makes sense to approach this matter the same as investing in a work of art.
Don’t be shy to ask for a few reference numbers of recent clients if you would like to ask someone who have invested already.
A Couple shoot is a good trial run.
Not only is this a good way for you and your partner to get to know your photographer, it’s a great way to get comfortable in front of his/her camera.
It makes the wedding day a bit less nerve wrecking knowing that you have someone who is capturing your every move in the most beautiful way possible.
Tip 3 : Order of the day
Being 15 minutes late for the ceremony is acceptable. But try and avoid being late as a rule.
Your day is made perfect by a team of professionals who all work according to a certain schedule.
To name just a few :
The chefs in the kitchen working on 60-200 plates at a time.
The last afternoon light before you enter your reception is crucial with the photographer.
Certain suppliers are hired for a certain time-frame only and might be booked with another client on the same day.
Tip 4 : Make-up artist
Booking a professional make-up artist is a MUST.
If you would like to make the most of your trial make-up run, book your couple shoot on the same day of your trial.
Tip 5 : Entertain your guests creatively
While you are away having gorgeous photographs taken, think of how you can treat your guests.
Perhaps playing boule on the lawn, having a musician perform while yummy drinks and snacks are being served.
Having pretty handcrafted stationary will make your guests feel really special. Get someone like Pink Pigeon on board to help with your save the date, invites, table decor, name tags and thank you cards.
Why not have extra fun shots of your guests, a Retro Photobooth can be loads of fun, plus it’s a great memento of the day.
